I'll Go Mine

Creepy, Creepy, Crawly, Crawly

Check out the tarantula cookies I made for work in the Flickr box - everyone really liked them. They are from The Secret Life of Food by Claire Crespo.

No trick or treaters again this year. Ah well. I still lit my little pumpkin.

What's everyone's costumes?

The Rainbow Connection

OK, how boring are the Astro's uniforms now? These are my favorites. They wouldn't be losing if they still wore those uniforms, no way.

I Did Fancy You A Bit

Movie: Lost In Translation - Why do I love this movie so much?

Two for Tuesday - I'll start it off with some Foreigner: "Feels Like The First Time" and "Urgent"

OK, these are hilarious. - I think I ganked that link from boingboing.

Adios Rosa Parks

Here's her mug shot

You know, I know we haven't come far enough, but the world has moved forward a bit. Why do we keep wanting to go back?

Do You Want To

Movie: City of God

It's Labour Day here.

Per the GAO - serious flaws did exist in voting machines.

The very bad idea

Why isn't this the biggest news story of the day?

Movie: Thirteen

Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?

I am Jean-Luc Picard: "An accomplished diplomat who can virtually do no wrong, you sometimes know it is best to rely on the council of others while holding the reins.

There are some words which I have known since I was a schoolboy. "With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably." These words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie -- as a wisdom, and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged.

Jean-Luc is a character in the Star Trek universe."

One Thing Leads To Another

Wahoo, three-day weekend!

Except the weather is all cold and windy and rainy here. What's up with that?

You kids have a good one!

That Funky Monkey

Two For Tuesday - I gotta go with Aerosmith - "Sweet Emotion" and "Dude Looks Like A Lady" - oh yeah!

OK, here's some rock trivia - did you know that Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer for Iron Maiden, is also a First Officer at Astraeus Airlines? Yeah, he gets to be the big rock star AND a 737/757 pilot. Why does he get two cool jobs?

Adios Tommie

Good Morning Starshine

Movie: Wimbledon, The Village

OK, I'm sorry, but this is getting out of hand. Your religion should govern how YOU live YOUR life - not how you think everyone else should live theirs. So if you are a GP, you need to provide all GP services, including prescribing birth control. If you are a pharmacist, you need to provide all pharmacist services, including filling birth control prescriptions. Patients (who seem to be mostly women) should not have to call around and figure out what services a doctor or pharmacist will provide - they should know that if they go to a doctor or a pharmacy, they will be taken care of. And if, because of your religion, YOU do not want to use birth control, then that is fine - don't. But maybe you SHOULD question that "no birth control" policy in today's world - I'm not sure it's doing anyone any favors.

Why Don't You Come To Your Senses

Oh man, what a week! I reckon it was a bit too long - bring on the weekend!

OK, they let me play a djembe drum tonight. And let me bring it home. And I'm glad I found that website because it has some exercises on it I can use to practice. Although I'm not exactly sure what is going on with those exercises. I'll have to look at it tomorrow.

Supermarket shenanigans - the other night the guy in front of me at the supermarket was buying a bag of tortilla chips (salsa flavor) and a bottle of wine (Sauvignon Blanc). ? I didn't know those two things went together, but maybe they do.

Hey, none of you jokers better have stolen Elvis' shirt. If you did, give it back.

Worst movie sex ever definitely not Showgirls - hilarious.

Alright, y'all have a good weekend!

Dreaming Is Free

Triple Shot Thursday - you go first

So riding on the bus can get a little monotonous, and I start wondering what it would be like to touch the person's hair in front of me, or to make out with the hot John Corbett look-a-like on the bus. I'm not going to do either of those things, but you know, it keeps the mind active. What do you think about in those boring down times? And, uh, please, keep it clean.

Gonna Make You Some Peace Some Day

Movie: Central do Brasil

It's Two for Tuesday

If anyone wants to come out, feel free. I support you.

Play It Cool, Stay In School (but not forever, jeez)

Movie: Thunderbirds

You know, I enjoy writing my little blog here, and I love reading good writing, but why do I hate writing anything for school? Seriously, it's not that big a deal, but here I am, last minute, trying to throw words together. And while I don't have a term paper or a page limit (I do have a word limit...suggestion), this article made me laugh, because I remember trying most of those tricks, especially the old TRIPLE spacing, giant margins, giant font size, etc. AND I had to do it on a typewriter - think that paper got reread and revised? Not on your life. At least now I'm actually studying and can put a coherent discussion down on paper.

This is hilarious because as before, I've been there.

And now I'm going to bed! No all-nighter for me. Nuh-uh. No way.

Rock Rock Till You Drop

Movie: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

OK kids, it's that time of the year again - ROCKTOBER! I know, I can't believe it either.

Today is Two for Tuesday - let me know which two songs by the same artist or group you want to hear.

I usually start with some Tom Petty, and today is no exception: "Listen To Her Heart" and "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around." And through the magic that is iTunes, I am listening to them right now.

Adios August Wilson, Nipsey Russell, and Ronnie Barker.

Robin Recommends The Memory of Running by Ron McClarty. It's just a very nice read.

Roll 'Em Up

Movie: Laurel Canyon

Took tortilla roll-ups to work Friday morning, as it was a co-worker's last day, and everyone liked them. Everyone else made fantastic food too, we ate all day. Then my friend left, and that was sad. She has taught me a lot, and I enjoyed discussing things with her. Then I got to play the bass drum again at my class - the guy who made the drums came in to give me some pointers, and our class is learning some new dances that look so cool. This other chick from my class tried to get all excited about the drums, but guess who they let take the drum home - that's right, old perfect beat. Tee hee!
