It's kind of fun being an American in another country, because people pretty much expect you to be a loud, obnoxious jackass. But they will put it nicely, and say "Americans are quite confident, aren't they?" And then when you do something loud, obnoxious and jackassy, they just look at you and smile.
I closed the library one night by myself this week. I figure its a lot like shutting down a ride at Six Flags. There is A LOT of rubbish to pick up (luckily, no cigarette butts, although I did find a pack of smokes in the kids area one night). Things need to be straightened up and tidied. The mechanical equipment needs to be shut down. People will stay until the very end. There is a lot of walking around involved. The open sign is brought in and the doors are set to exit. You even have people trying to sneak in after the doors are locked!
Alright, this is all for tonight. More library fun tomorrow!

Hey, I'm still here. I've had three late nights at work this week, so I'm a little tired. I pretty much came home last night, ate dins, and went to bed. Now today I have an eye appointment and two workshops, then I have to do my assessment, so no rest for me. I prefer being not busy to being busy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TANYA!
And Congratulations to Stephanie for being named a National Merit Semifinalist - yes, everyone, that is "baby" Stephanie - she's a senior in high school now!
And for your Sunday listening and viewing pleasure - Tangaroa by Tiki Taane - enjoy!

So sorry for the lack of posting, the new job is still kicking my ass a bit. Still so much to learn!
Here's a hazard I haven't had to deal with in any other job - bad breath. I may have to ask if anyone has ever thought of offering promotional mints or gum.
Simon and I started watching this over the weekend, and we laughed and laughed at how cheesy it looks now, but I know I sure watched it every Saturday. Go on, sing along!

Note to self - when getting ready to dance in public, try to wear panties that you know will stay up (you know, big grannie cotton panties) instead of silkier ones that may slip down during the performance.
(And no, they didn't slide all the way off, but they didn't exactly stay up either - not a very pleasant feeling when dancing in public!)
