Oops, looks like we're already right in the middle of Banned Books Week. My apologies.

Here's some fun links:

Turning the Pages

Uh, this guy didn't wear pants, he wore a g-string. C'mon BBC, get it right.

Adios Don Adams.

I Want To Bang On The Drum All Day

Movie: Kill Bill Vol. 2

Since we can't have belly dancing classes at the moment, our teacher and her partner are putting on a rhythm class for us. Our first one was Friday night, and my teacher picked me out to play this giant drum. I'm not sure why she picked me, but I LOVED it. I may have to take some drum lessons - I always said I would take piano lessons when I finally get out of school, but it may have to be drums.

Sounds like all my relatives either weathered out the storm OK or made it to where they were going. Hope this is true for everyone else.

Don't Stop Believin'

Hey kids, hope everyone is getting ready for the nasty weather. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

Rough And Tough And Strong And Lean

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANE!

The other night I stumbled across The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on CNN, but it was on at 11:30, and of course, I fell asleep before it came on.

And the election ended like Germany's and the U.S. - practically a tie. They have to count a bunch of special votes before we know who really won, and that could be next month.

Alright, gotta finish my book - later.

If You See Kay

Movie: 28 Days Later

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAY!

Oh for crying out loud!

Hurricane Katrina Sucked

Today is Election Day in NZ. Here's the deal - you get two votes: one for your member of parliament, and one for the party you want to lead NZ. The Prime Minister is then decided by whichever party gets the most votes. It is a very close race and there has been a lot of mud-slinging and hoo-ha going around. It will be interesting to see which party wins.

And there is supposed to be some kind of major weather action tomorrow - mostly north and south of me, but we will probably get hit by something. Yikes!

If You Believe They Put A Man On The Moon

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TANYA!

And in honor of Tanya's birthday: The Apollo Missions - panorama style!

It's been so nice and warm, we've been slowly opening up the windows around the house more and more, then smackdown! Mother Nature sends through the cold winds and rain. May have to light a fire tonight.

Y'all have a good weekend!

Don't Put Me On The Backburner

Hey, what's everybody doing? About the only e-mails I get are forwarded jokes, auction notifications, weather reports - not much from my buds. I know I haven't been posting so much lately - I've been kind of tired, as I guess everyone has with all the hoo-ha in the world at the moment - it kind of wears you out, doesn't it? And I was even feeling a little bad for Bush today when someone took a picture of that bathroom break note. I mean, we've all been there, haven't we? Sheesh.

I DID hear from an old friend of Laurie's today, and that cheered me up.

My 20th high school reunion is this weekend. I won't be there, obviously, but I filled out my bio sheet, and will hopefully hear from some "old" classmates. 20 years - where the hell does the time go?

And why am I ready for bed at 10:00? What's wrong with me? Sigh.

In other news, the dog tore up the seat of one of our recliners today. Who knows why? She is usually very good, so we are totally flummoxed.

OK, that's enough rambling from me. Must...get...sleep.

Come On A My House

Movie: House of Sand and Fog

Demand Your Data!

So I was riding in the back of the bus today on the way home, which was fun because you are up higher and can see everything, when I realized The Crying Game was sitting in front of me. He/she had dreadlocks, and an earring, and sideburns (!), and I really thought he/she was a dude until he/she coughed, and it sounded like a dudette. I never got a good front view, but I'm pretty sure it was a she.

And that's my excitement for today!

I Hate Myself

Movie: Spider-Man 2

I am so tired of myself right now. I really can't get any more annoying or mean.

The belly dancing went off very well - it was a beautiful day, everyone looked fantastic and had fun.

Here's something to lighten the mood.

Adios Bob Denver

Ain't That A Shame

A bunch of writing I liked about this whole, shameful mess:

Real consequences - Molly Ivins

United States of Shame - Maureen Dowd - link via Cynthia

New Orleans crisis shames America - Matt Wells

When a Preventable Tragedy Occurs, Whose Fault Is It? The Victims (Of Course) - Jesse Kornbluth

Finally

Republican failure, Republic blame - PZ Myers

Who Is In Charge? - although I have to question the assertion that the "U.S. military can conquer a foreign country in a matter of days". From what I've read about Iraq, it seems to be pretty much like New Orleans.

And some speaking I didn't like:

This man is a hateful jackass - and I guess that makes me a hateful jackass for hating him, but there you go.

Walking To New Orleans

OK, here's a new color scheme for ya - sorry about the yellow.

Vacation is Over

And people, yes, the world does care. And I have been asked if my friends and family were safe, and I said as far as I knew they were.

Be thinking of me today - I'm belly dancing in public for the first time - what am I thinking?
