I'll Go Mine

So Far So Good

Well, I have finished my third day at my new job, and it is going OK so far. I am learning new stuff and making mistakes like crazy, but I'm learning from the mistakes, and I'm quite enjoying the work. Everyone (staff and customers) is super friendly and helpful, and I really appreciate that. Today was a big day for asking where I was from - I guess I talked more today. And I don't miss my commute into Wellington AT ALL. It's all good.

Girl On Film

My passport has expired, so I have to get all the materials together to take care of that, and one of the things is new pics. And of course the US is one of the countries that requires a certain size pic, so I have to find a place that takes those pics. Luckily there is a place right by my work, so I head in there. I had brushed my hair all nice and everything, and then the girl is like, "OK, you are going to have to push your hair back so I can see as much of your face as possible, and you need to push your hair off your forehead so I can see your eyebrows." So now my hair doesn't look so nice anymore and when I see the pics my pupils are like twice their regular size and I look like I had been doing god knows what that morning. THEN the girl is like "I hope those work out" and I'm like "what?" and she's like "they sometimes don't accept them - I learn something new all the time about what they want" and I'm like "man, these had BETTER be OK!" You don't pay money for something and then hope for the best - you better get it right the first time! Sheesh! Especially when you can't just buy the two that you need, you have to buy eight.

And what about guys who have giant beards? Do they have to shave them off? Doubtful.

Here I Is!

Why do people give fat people extra food? For example, I'll go into my favorite lunch place, and try to order just a regular meal, but the lady will give me a free large upsize. Or I was buying a muffin one morning at my work, and the guy comes back and was like "I gave you an extra one because the one I originally put in there was broken." So in essence I got two muffins. Now, these people can see I don't need the extra food - what gives?

Friday Fumblings

So, I had some Taco Bell last night. No really - Cynthia sent me one of those Santa Fe Style Beef Bowlz. I just added a little cheese and sour cream, and ate it with some tortilla chips - delish!

Speaking of delish, I made this cake for our birthdays. It was so easy and tasted so good. I used my food processor to mix up the icing, and if you make it, be aware it makes a lot of icing, so you can spread heaps in between the layers and still have enough to cover the rest of the cake.

So don't you hate it when you are trying to get the mail one night and you slip down in the mud, so you have to wash the sweats you were wearing when you fell, and you put them back on and not 10 minutes later you spill food all over them? Yeah, me too.

I reckon the three worst words in the English language to hear are "oh - it's you." What do you reckon the three worst words to hear are?

Come On Get Happy

So, I was going to mention this (via Redneck Mother), but it just makes me sad. But I will say I do like the Star-Telegram's headline - they just say "man", because that's what he was, he was a man, a human being.

Then I was going to mention this, but it just makes me sad too. (The Texas Monthly Crime issue is quite enlightening on the Texas criminal justice system-I suggest a read if you think the death penalty numbers are OK).

And Rove's gone, but where is he going? So much damage has already been done.

So instead of mentioning those, I'm happily drinking a sugar-free Hawaiian Punch thanks to Cynthia, and I'll just show this instead. It's one of my very favorite Sesame Street skits - so get happy with me and watch this:

Stye - Oh My!

So sorry for not posting this week. I have an assessment due next week, which as you all know I hate doing, so I have been staying away from the computer pretty much. And it has been busy at work too, so I've just been tired. Then this morning I woke up with my eyelid all swollen, so swollen Simon was grossed out by it, so I stayed home to keep hot compresses on it to get it down. It's doing better now but was really bad this morning. So I have been catching up on my computer reading and will start my assessment tonight and work on it all weekend, and hopefully everything will be done and not swollen on Monday.

Now I'm just waiting on some bad weather to start. The winds have already started, but the rains have not. Luckily not too cold.

So what's your latest weird ailment?

Love In An Elevator

People, can we please refrain from farting in the elevator, especially if you are going down to go outside? Really, how hard is it to hold it for a minute?
