OK, I totally ganked this from Redneck Mother, but I had to - just watch it:
People, here's a tip - do not handle ANY chicken in NZ. Unless you are wearing gloves. I cannot stress this enough. Your insides (and some of your outsides) will thank you for it.
This has been hell week for my left foot. Last Saturday night I dropped a table on it when I was helping clean up after Simon's parent's anniversary party. So I jammed my big toe pretty good, and it has been bruised and sore this week. It swelled up a little bit, which made my shoe rub my heel, so now I have a giant blister on my heel, and you know, band-aids just don't stick back there. So I've been walking around limping, trying not to hurt my toe or my heel, and it just ain't working. Don't they have shoe technology down now where it's like we are walking on clouds? In fact, I'm going to send out a poll right now to find out about everyone's most comfortable shoes. Screw fashion!
I may have to buy me some black work Crocs, since they are all over the place now. What's up with that, as soon as I buy my ugly mustard yellow ones, they are in every freakin' store in all the pretty colors. Sheesh.
I can't enjoy it because I have an assignment due Tuesday that I haven't really started on, so I have to work on that this weekend. And Simon's parent's 50th anniversary party is Saturday, so that means I only have Sunday. Stupid assignments!
And for those people who think I "hate America", please read this article with the guy who wrote the above, especially the part on citizenship - it's the same way I feel, but am unable to articulate like he can.
And so I will point out something good from the US - Truman Capote's The Grass Harp - it is perfection.
I'm listening to my World Cafe new music podcast, and I'm sorry, but this group that is playing - I think I MAYBE would have liked this music when I was in elementary school, but now? Uh no.
Stupid weather - it was supposed to be sunny and windy today, perfect for drying my clothes, so I hung them out. Went to my drum class and the supermarket, was coming out of the supermarket and it's raining - the sun is still shining, but it's definitely raining, and it hasn't stopped since then. My clothes aren't drying anytime soon.
Sheehan registers to vote in Texas - outstanding, because Texas needs more liberal votes. Unseriously though, the pic of her next to Bush's pic makes me laugh
Dudes, sorry for not posting - I have heaps of stuff to post, don't know why I haven't.
Friday, I went to see the Egyptian Odyssey tour, the first part of which was some NZ bellydancers and musicians performing, the second half was Hossam and Serena Ramzy. I missed out on some drum workshops with Hossam because I'm still in minus annual leave, and I'm probably going to live to regret it, but that's what happens sometimes. Still, it was good to see both of them, as they are amazing.
Saturday, I made Nigella's Lemon Linguini. I saw it on Nigella Bites, and decided to try it, and it is really nice and very easy. Give it a try sometime.
You know, I constantly have to say goodbye to people, not knowing when I am going to see them again, but it was my choice to move away. It wasn't because I or my family could no longer safely live in my country. What a horrible decision to have to make.
You know, when is the spam going to stop? When are laws going to be made that you cannot receive any unsolicited advertising on your e-mail, your phone, your cellphone? Anything YOU have to pay some kind of bill or access fee for, you should not have to put up with that nonsense unless they are going to contribute to your bill. How much time and energy is wasted dealing with it? Heaps! And who are the jackasses that respond to the spam e-mails? If that is you, please for cripes sake KNOCK IT OFF!!!!
