I'll Go Mine

Lordy, How I Ache For Chicken Fried Steak

Movie: Cold Mountain

I get a recipe from Texas Monthly every Friday, and this Friday it was Threadgill's chicken fried steak. So of course I had to try it - I have never made chicken fried steak before, not really. And it turned out pretty good, I just need to work on my seasoning, as I can't get Threadgill's meat seasoning here. Simon made mashed potatoes (using tips from Wolfgang Puck), we added some corn - now that's good eatin'!

With My Naked Eye

Your mission this weekend, should you choose to accept it:

Run all the way around your house - naked.

A few rules and regulations:

You are allowed to wear protective footwear.

You are allowed to consume alcohol or other performance enhancing drugs.

You can prep beforehand - i.e., open gates, turn off lights (don't forget the sensor lights!), make sure running path (I assume you'll be running) is clear of debris.

Don't get arrested - let's use our heads and do this at night, people.

If you live in an apartment or duplex, you will need to come up with an alternative - running up and down the stairs, out to your car and back, etc. Due to closer proximity to neighbors, your path can be shorter.

Once around is all that is necessary.

Extra points for getting the pets to go with - also naked, of course.

Extra points for pics. : )

All that's left to say is - good luck!

Wake Up To A Brand New Day

Do you ever just get tired of it all? Of yourself, of other people, of your job, of rules, of everything.

What do you do to snap out of it?

Do You Think I'm A Nasty Girl

So, the US doesn't want religious law in Iraq, but in the US it is OK. Sorry, but can someone explain to me how that works?

Another Year Older And Deeper In Debt

Movie: Batman Begins

Simon gave me this really cool "promotional product" he got at a seminar he went to Friday. It is a talking clock. You see, I need glasses or contacts TO see, and if I wake up and want to know what time it is, I have to fumble around for my glasses, then look over the giant lump that is Simon (usually waking him up) to see his digital clock. Oh sure, I had one of those clocks you press and it lights up, but that lasted a couple of weeks before the light didn't work anymore. So now I just have to press this little clock and it tells me the time - yay!

It's the little things I tell ya.

Cover It In Chocolate

Music: Life's Too Good - The Sugarcubes

Yeah, on second thought I don't think that chocolate soy milk with my breakfast cereal was such a good idea.

Anybody go to the Ranger game Monday night? I got to watch the whole thing, and it was great - uh, except the Rangers lost. It wasn't listed as showing, I was just surfing and stumbled across it. There were no commercials or time between innings or anything - they showed the whole game in two hours. Wish I could have been there live though.

Hands up who likes wasabi?

Breaking Up The Girl

For crying out loud! I ganked this article from Redneck Mother - go read her post on it too - because it is so disturbing and everyone needs to read it and make sure it doesn't happen again.

"We will pass along to our children all the freedoms we enjoy - and chief among them is freedom from fear." - George W. Bush, 2005 State of the Union address, Washington, D.C., Feb. 2, 2005.

Yeah, right.

Poetry Arrived

I'm terza rima, and I talk and smile.
Where others lock their rhymes and thoughts away
I let mine out, and chatter all the while.

I'm rarely on my own - a wasted day
Is any day that's spent without a friend,
With nothing much to do or hear or say.

I like to be with people, and depend
On company for being entertained;
Which seems a good solution, in the end.

Make A Joke And I Will Sigh And You Will Laugh And I Will Cry

Music: Dazed and Confused Soundtrack

Aw jeez, what a week. It was stressful to me in my own tiny little universe. But, all of my PRS and coaching at work is out of the way, and I think some good will come of that. I disagreed with how part of my last assignment in my course was graded, but my instructor disagrees with me, so I am disappointed, but I know I learned what I needed to in that course, my new course starts Monday and I have to move on. Simon and I celebrated our five year anniversary Friday - I think that's still going OK. I got my windshield replaced, my shoes fixed, the house is clean. I got some birthday presents already. I have not succumbed to the flu that is going around. Tomorrow is another day.

Those Magic Changes

Movie: 50 First Dates

Hey kids, sorry again for the lack of posting - it's been a slow couple of weeks, and I am having to share the computer with Simon while he finishes a project.

Anyway, in the meantime you can Take Action - Rove Must Go - out the door - now.

Or, you can share anything that's going on with you, if you don't have a blog that I read already.

Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps

Movie: Strictly Ballroom, Under the Tuscan Sun

I have not been very inspired this week, so here is my usual listing of websites that caught my attention:

Cinema Strikes Back - one of Blake's many websites. In fact, I can't keep up with all of them.

Growth of a Nation - for your review

Don't you hate it when someone has dialed the toaster to the "burn" mode? What is up with that?

I had a dream last night where my house caught on fire (!) and the only things I thought about saving were the books in my to-be-read pile in my closet. It was only after I got them out safely that I thought about important papers. What does that say about me?

Take It Easy

Sorry about the low postings, but it's been a hell of a week. Very busy and tense at work. For some reason I keep thinking it is Friday night, but it is only Thursday. I made brownies last night for a co-worker's birthday, and they were right tasty. I'm not the best cook but I can almost always whip up a nice dessert. We watched the new Doctor Who tonight - it was pretty good. The Doctor's pretty hot, and it's still appropriately cheesy. After reading about Hurricane Dennis I just wanted to give a shout out to my brother Dennis - I haven't heard from him in a while, but I guess he is OK.

I've got two turntables and a microphone.

Just finished watching some of the Live 8 concert, and I know there has been some hoo ha over whether it matters or not, but dammit it was great to see and hear some of those people, wasn't it? Live music makes me glad to be alive, and I enjoyed watching the performers - it must truly be a great job, being able to make music like that.

Hangin' Tough

Movie: Big Fish

I love the end of this article where it explains what else Leonardo da Vinci has painted. Don't they know we've all read The Da Vinci Code and know good and well what Da Vinci painted? We even know about the "Virgin of the Rocks" they talk about in the article. Sheesh.

Coming home last night I found a giant crack in my windshield. I have no idea how it got there, and now I'm not looking forward to dealing with it.

Y'all have a good weekend! Hopefully better than my week. At least there's no war where I live.
