With the Gloves Off

Go Senfronia! I've already sent her an e-mail thanking her for saying what she said. Here's more from Molly Ivins.

Another article about Rep. Senfronia Thompson.

Oh, and by the way, Texas banned ALL marriage. I guess everyone will just have to live in sin.

And once again I bring you "A Brief History of Marriage in America" I wish people would study up before spouting off about marriage ALWAYS being SO sacred between a man and a woman. It just ain't so.

Sing A Song

Freaks and Geeks Marathon at Alamo Drafthouse. Oh yeah.

So we went to this last night, and we were talking about the music guy remembering his first records and stuff, and I said I remembered my first record was "Sing" by The Carpenters - the Easter Bunny brought it - and Simon said his first record was "Songs of the Humpback Whale" from National Geographic. What was your first record?

Why Do You Love Me

Music: Bleed Like Me - Garbage

Ah luxury - I don't have to go back to work until May 23rd. I'm sure I will fritter away my time on stupid stuff, but at least I'm not at work.

So what can I do?

Y'all have a good weekend!

Suddenly Shiny And New

We got new stamps at work this week - we don't have business cards but sometimes have to send stuff back to people, and we just needed something with our details on it. I love stamps and stamping things. It's so satisfying. And although I love new technology, I'm still a little sad that barcodes and scanners have replaced the date stamp in your library book. Sniff.

So how about some library links:

It Don't Matter To Me

Word of the Day

OK, you try to be nice to your dog and let her sleep on the bed during the day because it's Monday and you know she would like that and HOW does she REPAY you? By throwing up on YOUR side of the bed RIGHT BY YOUR PILLOW! Of course! How thoughtful. Really.

A Still Hot, Smokin Gun

The Secret Downing Street Memo

"Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy"

British Memo Busts Bush

"Keep in mind, in June 2002, President Bush was telling Americans there were no plans yet to attack Iraq."

Secret British Memo Showed Bush Tampered With Iraq Intelligence

"The man from Connecticut with the cowboy boots and the fake twang would get away with it."

Impeachment Time: "Facts Were Fixed"

"Saddam was not threatening his neighbors, and his WMD capability was less than that of Libya, North Korea or Iran."

A New Memo-gate?

"For much of the week, much of the U.S. press paid little attention to the highly classified British memo, leaked to a British newspaper, which seems to reveal that President Bush decided by summer 2002 to overthrow Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and was determined to ensure that U.S. intelligence data supported his policy."

Quotes after each link were taken from the link.

I looked for information about this on "right-wing" websites and Google news and barely found a mention. Why is that?

On no, sorry, my bad, I found one.

The First Taste

Movie: Crackerjack, To Kill A Mockingbird

My culinary adventures this week:

Geetha made our team a beautiful lunch on Thursday. Actually breakfast and lunch, with potato vadas for breakfast, and biryani and dhal for lunch. Her cooking is da bomb.

Then I found some A & W Root Beer at the Indian shop across the street from work. It was from Singapore, but it tasted exactly the same. So nice and cold, I had it after I had been on my walk at lunch.

And today I made a polenta/vegetable stack, which we decided was not on our favorites list (I thought there was too much polenta, Simon thought the onions should be fried), but the feijoa crumble got the thumbs up.

Oooh That Smell

AlanCumming.com - I don't know how often this site is updated, but I still like it.

I have some kind of stink following me around. I think it is from the car, but I have to wait until the weekend to clean it out, vacuum, and unload an entire bottle of Febreze in there. In the meantime I got a car air freshener, but I wasn't too impressed with it on the way home. And they don't have any good scents for them - I think I got one called Voyager - ?

If I Only Had A Heart

I know a pregnant 13-year old is not the best scenario, but how can anyone with any compassion force her to have the baby? SHE'S 13! Is that really in her best interest?
