Don't Take It So Hard

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GABRIELLA!

Hey, I'm back. We had our MEDANZ festival this weekend, where our class performed, and it went pretty well. It was fun to see the other dancers from around NZ with all the different dance styles, music and costumes.

I took a drumming class with Eva which was educational, it was the first time I had really played my drum, and Ross, my teacher, thought it sounded pretty good. The night before I had watched a tape on how to play arabic drum by Anne Harkin and she's my new hero. She has really fired me up now.

I'm off for a couple more days, today has been quite hot, but I'm not complaining - it's better than being cold.

The First Time The Last Time We Ever Met

Movie: Monster's Ball

OK, today I had to explain to my co-worker (1) what a rotary phone was and (2) how it worked. She couldn't believe it. Neither could I - ha!

I, Too by Langston Hughes - sent to me for poetry month, I thought it was appropriate for the times.

On Good Friday

Movie: The Aviator, Warm Springs

Aaaahh, start of a four day weekend, and looks like the weather is going to cooperate.

Pretty much all I ate yesterday was hot cross buns, and Karin made me a banana cake as yesterday was the last day we would be working together. I hate saying good-bye.

We've got a pork roast going in the slow cooker - y'all come on round for dins!

Thunder...lightnin'...

It has been a wet, thundery weekend here. Which is OK, until it causes the satellite TV to go out while I am trying to watch a movie. *&^%$!

Here's some weekend reading for you:

Heard about the discovery of the Tiktaalik yet? Check out some artwork featuring the Tiktaalik - scroll down to see the pic with Charles Darwin - hilarious!

Bush: Leaker in Chief?

Exit plans

Yay, some common sense.

Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead

Adios Tom

So a co-worker is betting on baseball games, and has shown me a neat little site - ESPN.com MLB Scoreboard - we "watch" whatever game she has a bet on during the afternoon. I've been explaining to her some of the terminology and workings of the game. Today there was some confusion between cricket "innings" and baseball "innings". We have discussed stadiums and $1.00 hot dog nights. I told her, sadly, not to bet on the Rangers. Ah well. It livens up the work day.

Have you ever had sex with an alien?

Baby I'm A Want You

So we went to Simon's parent's house blessing Saturday, and were the youngest ones there for a while until this small child turns up. He had a piece of white bread with him, and he carried that thing around the whole day like it was his security blanket or something. He put it down on the ground beside him, would pick it up and carry it around again, a dog tried to get it, but the kid wouldn't let him have it. It was pretty hilarious. It reminded me of Homer and the sandwich in one of my favorite Simpson's episodes. "How can I stay mad at you?"

Things to read and remember before the next elections:

Where are the good Americans?

Q: What's your assessment of the war in Iraq?

A: Utter debacle. But it had to be from the very first. The reasons were wrong. The reasons of this administration for taking this nation to war were not what they stated. (Army Gen.) Tommy Franks was brow-beaten and ... pursued warfare that he knew strategically was wrong in the long term. That's why he retired immediately afterward. His own staff could tell him what was going to happen afterward."

A law unto himself
