I Can Mash Potato
I say mashed potatoes are the best food EVER! What do you say?
Scanners - excellent little blog I have found recently - mostly about movies/entertainment, but some politics thrown in.
I got an e-mail today from a guy I used to work with saying his daughter's surgery was going to be on Medical Incredible Monday night in the States. So if anyone watches it, let me know what the deal is. She is a twin.

If You Can't Be With The One You Love...
Movie: Spanglish
I have had to go into Wellington twice this week, and both times the weather has been incredibly horrible. Rainy, windy, and today it got cold. Those southerlies just kicked right up. Brrrrrr.
What kind of woman sponsors a bill banning contraceptive funding? What is so wrong with contraceptives????? This is in the US people.
I guess at least she's not trying to delay tampon shipments. Although I can see it becoming a slippery slope. God forbid anything go into your vagina until you are married, and only then to conceive a child. Is that what it has to come down to?
Hey, enjoy your Friday! Here's a quote:
Vanessa Kensington: Mr. Powers, my job is to acclimatize you to the nineties. You know, a lot's changed since 1967.
Austin Powers: No doubt, love, but as long as people are still having promiscuous sex with many anonymous partners without protection while at the same time experimenting with mind-expanding drugs in a consequence-free environment, I'll be sound as a pound!
Yeah baby yeah!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIN! on the 21st
Whew, sorry for the low postings - time change this weekend, so we are all still trying to adjust.
Speaking of time change, my dog is still on DST - she expects to be fed and get her treats at certain times, and her internal clock is pretty good. Unfortunately she did not get the memo on the time change, and so is still harassing us an hour earlier than she should be. Poor puppy!
I don't wear a lot of make-up here, because it's expensive and most people here don't so "when in Rome"...anyway, when I DO put on make-up now I think I look more like a drag queen than sexy and attractive. What's up with that? It's not even that much make-up but to me it just looks like too much. Sigh.
Did you see the cool Peep bean bag Beth sent me? (I know the pic sux, sorry)
The B.U.D.S. Test - I'm not sure if that test will tell you anything at all - for people with dogs.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLAKE!
HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY!
Since I've been here no place I've worked has made a big deal out of St Patty's day - until today. The place was all decorated, they had green candy (lollies) in bowls all around - even by the copier/fax machines. My boss got us these leprechaun hats at the $2 shop that were huge - they were hilarious, but unfortunately I could not wear the hat and answer my phone with the headset at the same time, so the hat stayed off most of the time. We had heaps of junk food, and now I feel sick. I think I need to do some kind of fast tomorrow.
Perceval Press - Viggo Mortensen's press. I was reading an article in a magazine that said he puts up the little snippets everyday. Good stuff. I need to read more poetry.

Wednesday Nose Nonsense - People, when you get on a crowded bus, please try to refrain from farting. I know it's hard sometimes, but please, just try.
I'm sorry, I would prefer to cut the drug dealer's sentences by 15 percent than these people.
Yeah, until they can come up with a good reason to invade.
Great article, because I've been thinking a lot lately about how much I hate my working environment. I love it when everyone can hear every phone call I am on and see everything on my computer screen.

Happy Birthday To You!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIA!
Sorry the posting is late, I was very tired last night - I had to get to bed.
So yesterday waiting for the bus, I saw this chick toss the end of her ice cream cone onto the ground before she got on the bus. I was a little miffed, I mean that was littering right? But then three pigeons ran over and starting pecking at the cone and eating the little pieces. They kept at it for a while, till just the tip was there, and then a seagull came down and ganked it.
I'm sure there's a metaphor for life in there - one girl's trash is three pigeon's dinner, you work and work and work on something then some jackass steals it - but I don't really know what it is. It's just life, I guess.

Oh I Wish I Was An Oscar...
Movie: Anchorman - The Legend of Ron Burgundy
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TERRI!
As the Oscars are shown here in the middle of the afternoon, I try not to hear the results or read about them or anything until I can watch the show. Unfortunately, something always leaps out at me before I can make it to that point, and I hear or see some result.
I thought Jon Stewart did a good job, he was mostly amusing, but the best parts were the film montages, even if there were heaps. I thought those were quite political, and the gay western bit was hilarious.
In the news here are the NZ Oscar winners, so I would like to give kudos to Larry McMurtry for his Oscar win.
And I would like to give minus kudos to South Dakota - it knows why.

I guess selling pizza to pornographers and birth control users is OK though.
