Don't bring fruit into New Zealand

Well, I went to the shop to buy The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie today, trudged upstairs, looked around, couldn't find it, turned around to trudge back downstairs to ask where it was and saw the sign - delayed until April 7. AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! Why God Why??!!!???

It turned out OK though - I bought some lilac slippers instead - now my feets are all cozy.

And That Was Good Friday

We're off Friday and Monday, and I think it is going to rain all four days of the long weekend. It certainly threw it down today. We had big plans for outside work this weekend too, now we're stuck inside cleaning house, etc. Ah well.

Only one more day, then I'm off for four days. So happy.

Tomorrow is Hot Cross Bun day at work. It's all good.

I thought I had more for today, but I decided not to put those links up.

How about some natural egg dyes?

You know, they don't dye eggs here. Nope. It's mostly all about chocolate eggs or bunnies. But mostly giant chocolate eggs.

Hump Day Hottie - Hot or Hot?

After I read this comic, I wrote to the author/artist and told her about my pom-pom socks, and she put it on her blog. Tee-hee. I really liked her strip, so I'm glad she liked my memories.

Shake It Baby

There's nothing like being woken up Monday morning at 4:08am by an earthquake. Then your neighbor drives off about 30 minutes later. Where is he going? I swear I'm going to follow him one day. He doesn't get back until after 6:00am. How do you know this? Because after you are woken by the earthquake, you cannot get back to sleep - your nose is snotty, you're hungry, you try to turn on the TV but it was up way too loud and you wake up your husband, you want to read but feel the light will be too bright, so you resort to surfing the Internet looking for info on Alan Rickman. You finally climb back into bed around 6:00am (right before your neighbor gets home) and doze off for a nanosecond before the alarm goes off. Then you get to work and the major database you use is down for over an hour. Can't they call me at home and let me know so I can sleep in? I could have used some extra shut eye.

If anyone wants a Gmail account, lemme know and I'll hook you up.

Libraries matter.

The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore

Movie: Truly, Madly, Deeply

I loves me some Alan Rickman.

Had a busy weekend, we bought a new futon, a punching bag, I went to a basic car maintenance class (which was very interesting, but almost ruined by two types of people - the ones who already know everything and so then have to comment on it, and the ones who don't know anything and so then have to ask 50 million questions!), Simon went to Crusty Demons of Dirt, he went on a trail ride today, I did laundry, housework, homework, read, watched movies, put some stuff on my window so the neighbors can't see in, made my lunch for the next two days and am about to cook fajitas for dins tonight.

I wish weekends were more than two days. Ah well.

What A Difference A Day Makes

Remember all the hoo-ha in the States when Janet showed a little nip? Well, Prince Charles is in NZ this week, and in Wellington yesterday a couple of ladies decided to protest by baring their breasts. Their boobs were all over the televised national news, and I haven't heard any squawks yet. I was more disturbed because one woman had her baby while she was doing this, and the baby was getting jostled around while she was and crying. People, don't take your kids to protests. Boob flashing OK.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm...

I thought this was interesting:

The national government will maintain and defend the foundations on which the power of our nation rests. It will offer strong protection to Christianity as the very basis of our collective morality. Today Christians stand at the head of our country. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit. We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theatre, and in the press--in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of LIBERAL excess during the past years.
--Adolph Hitler; taken from "The Speeches of Adolph Hitler, 1922-1939," Vol. 1, Michael Hakeem, Ph.D. (London, Oxford University Press, 1942), pp. 871-872

Ganked from this blog, which is always a good read.

What Goes Up

Ah, got a great workout in belly dancing tonight. We were working with veils (remember those Tanya?) and my arms were cramping and I was sweating. Then someone was cooking onions and stuff in the hall we were at, so now I smell all foodie and sweatie. The dog loves it!

Our neighbors across the creek have a giant tent in their yard - I guess they are having a wedding or something there this weekend, I may have to crash it. The tent is all pretty and glowing at night. And it really is big.

Alright, gotta go watch those hotties on Smallville. Check ya later!

I busted this guy today trying to send in some fake documentation. We require certain documents before we can register people, and he sent in someone's else's certificate, but he put his own name in. Unfortunately, he did not change the registration number, and I was able to call the appropriate board and check it out. I look at these things everyday, I know when someone is messing around with it.

And they think our job is strictly data entry. Sigh.
