I'll Go Mine

Is This A Zit?

You know, what is the deal with people who point out you have a zit? I KNOW I have a zit, I've had zits practically my whole life, I try to take care of my skin but it still breaks out - so why do you have to say something about it? Sheesh!

Hey, at least my day wasn't this bad.

Oops!

This was supposed to be a Flat Stanley photo, but I must have had "video" turned on on my camera, so it is now a very short film. Can you spot Flat Stanley?

Where Was I?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUSTIN! on the 15th - sorry for the lateness, I couldn't access the computer last night.

Don't you hate it when you get stuck trying to do something that is not working, and it uses up all your free time when you had other things to do?

Here's another beef - people who try to stop you to talk to you about Greenpeace or WSPA when you are obviously at work or leaving work or in a hurry. This happens outside my work constantly, as we are right by a large public area with numerous pedestrians cruising by. What I love are the ones who look at your and say "HI!" when you are walking by, but don't say anything about why they are saying "HI!", even though you can plainly see their little clipboard. I say "HI!" back and keep in walking. I once had a girl say "Do you like animals?" when I was trying to cross the road. I was like "Yes" and kept on walking. At least a guy today asked me if I wanted to talk about whaling as I was trying to sneak past him, eyes averted, head down. But his honesty and forthrightness were for naught - I said "No" and went on my way.

Hey, I know these things are important and need to be discussed, but much like telemarketing calls or constant advertising on every single spare space available, I don't appreciate the intrusion into my space, my time and my senses. There's just gotta by a better way.

Celebrity sighting - Brooke Fraser, running down a Wellington sidewalk. Do they play her in the States? She's a good little singer/songwriter. Check her out.

Stupid Mother Nature

So this morning I was brushing my hair, and while looking in the mirror I saw a GIGANTIC spider on the wall behind me. It super creeped me out, even after Simon caught it and threw it out.

Then this afternoon - EARTHQUAKE! It was a huge jolt, then the building swayed for a while. That super creeped me out too.

Now it's way too hot to go to sleep. There's no pleasing some people!

Sevens

First, Adios Molly - what a loss for Texas and for those who wanted the truth.

The International Sevens Tournament starts in Wellington tomorrow. What is it? Check the link for the full story, but it's pretty much quick rugby games, seven to a side, international teams. The crowd also really gets into it, with people dressing up, usually whole groups have a theme and I think probably a drunken good time is had by all.

Anyway, they had a parade today for it (Wellington has parades for everything - seriously), and I wasn't planning on watching it as I'm not really interested in rugby, but the parade was just coming in to Civic Square when I was getting back from getting my lunch, and the Wellington Batacuda group was leading the parade, and they were sounding pretty good, so I decided to stop and watch. It was pretty much the teams on trailer floats, and they had flags and maybe a little something extra. For example, Scotland had bagpipers, NZ had the Maori warriors doing the haka, one of the Pacific island nations had drummers. Guess who the USA had leading their team? Elvis - and Colonel Sanders, carrying a big 'ol bucket of chicken. England had Austin Powers - I waved to him. I waved to Elvis too but Austin was much friendlier.

And because I'm a jackass, I did not have my lovely new digital camera with me (yes, I have joined the 21st century and got a decent digital camera). So no pics - sorry! My camera is now in my purse, ready for the next exciting haps in my life. Whoo hoo!
