Tuesday's Gone With The Wind
Tuesday's Fashion Focus - if you are going to wear a tube top, so help me you cannot wear a bra with straps underneath it. Get a strapless bra, or don't wear a bra. Either or.
OK, I don't know how this works, but it does. Via Joy.

They Call Me The Breeze
Movie: Garden State
Ah, nothing beats a weekend with great weather - the windows open, breeze gently blowing through the house.
Unfortunately, with open windows comes bugs. Right now we seem to be getting a lot of flies.
And the cicadas are all over, especially my laundry. But Cassie is doing her part in cicada control - I saw her eat one yesterday - it was hilarious. She gave it a chance to get out of there, but it didn't move, so she ate it.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Ample Parking Day or Night
So, the infamous "Bloody Mary" episode of South Park screened here this week. And guess what? The ratings went way up for that one episode. Why? Because some people did not want the episode to be shown.
When are people going to learn that if they don't want people to read, watch or hear something, then they should keep their big mouths shut. Just don't mention it. If people don't know about something, they don't know about something, and aren't interested in it. And if it has some redeeming quality and deserves a wider audience, it will get it. But to bring attention to something offensive (and yes, the episode was offensive, but it's South Park, you don't watch it for the feel good factor) well, that's just asinine.
Alright, I'm getting off the soapbox - it's root beer float time!

Yes It's Over
Hooray, just finished my last assessment. Who knows how I will do, but I did learn a lot in the class, so that's really all that matters.
As I need to get to bed, you can check out the website I am doing for my bellydance class. It's still in the beginning stages, so keep checking it out. And if any of you professional web designers have any suggestions, I would be open to hearing them.
And no, you can't see me in either of the pics. I'm at the very back in the one at the bottom, but you really can't see me.

Dog New Tricks
Movie: Coffee and Cigarettes
Busy weekend and we actually got quite a bit done, for us.
We had to dogsit Jack, but he was pretty good.
We did some yardwork, and planted a grapevine.
I had to study, and we did some shopping.
And I made Grandma's Peach Cobbler, and this banana loaf.
A pretty good weekend all around.

I'm Back!
Whew, what a week at Casa de Joven. Monday night I came home and Simon had blown out the PlayStation. He was sad. Then while I was doing a little net surfing, the computer died. Whoops! Now he was mad. I had to go to my website class - The UH City Council is providing free web space for community groups, so I'm doing one for my bellydance class. I'll add a link when it's online. Simon had to order a new motor or something for the computer, so we had to make do with our laptops the whole week. Not too cool. But then again, not that big a problem.
I got some IBC root beer this week, and my new drum, and candy and On The Go lemonades.
Simon had to help a friend move yesterday. Into a two story house. In summer. But this friend helped us dig up our driveway to put in new pipe in some sweltering heat, so it was a fair trade.
Saw some ass at lunch today. I had to pass some guy who's pants were not exactly pulled up. Thankfully I only got the rear view.
I also passed a clothing sale rack that said "Nothing over $99". Is that even a sale? I mean, really!
OK, that's enough shenanigans from me. Have a good weekend!

I Just Want To Celebrate
So I was watching the finale of Six Feet Under, and I tell you, it made me bawl like a baby. I think it really started when David and Keith got married, then seeing everyone die, I was like, oh man, me and my family and friends - we're all going to die too one day! Shit! (And then I got angry because the recorded show stopped before it was over. The stupid TV stations here can't seem to put the correct times in the TV Guide so you know when things will begin and end. It's unbelievable, really. I had to look up the ending on the net).
Anyway, I then read this piece by Kurt Vonnegut, and I felt better. Because he said "If I should ever die, God forbid..." Yes! This is the answer - you can't live every day as if it's your last, because frankly, you wouldn't go to work or clean the toilet or any bullshit like that. It's too much pressure to live your whole life in a day.
I guess it's like Wooderson said: "The older you get, the more rules they are going to try and get you to follow. You just gotta keep on livin', man. L-I-V-I-N."
Speaking of cleaning the toilet - this can't get here soon enough.

Texas, Our Texas
Had a good day today - saw a guy I used to work with on the bus. He is such a nice person, it just makes my day to talk to him.
Then, I talked to a Texan on the phone today. He asked me if that was a Yankee accent he was hearing. I said yes, I'm from Texas. He's like no way, where? I'm like outside of Dallas. He's like no way, where, McKinney or ? I'm like Grand Prairie. He's like no way I have a friend who teaches there, I like Grand Prairie.
He was from Dalhart and had gone to Tech. We were making each other laugh. Unfortunately he is down in the South Island. If he was closer I could have taken him to the Mexican Cafe in Upper Hutt. Ah well.
When I got off the phone I told my team that was another Texan on the phone and they were like really? They had figured it out.
Alright, my assessment is done, and I need to go watch Two Fat Ladies. Later.

What Is Love
Movie: A Night at the Roxbury
We went to the American car show today - I love those Bel Airs! They just look great inside and out. Simon likes looking at the trucks.
Send Michael Moore your health care horror stories - you might be in his new movie.
Weekend reading:
Bush vs. Reality by Molly Ivins
Check out Riverbend's latest post - it goes pretty well with Molly Ivins' piece.
The Corporate Clone Look: Why So Much Pressure to Conform? by Barbara Ehrenreich - having been turned down for a job strictly based on what I wore to the interview, I feel pretty strongly about what she says.

Until You Crack
Movie: Bad Santa
Is it just me getting old, or is there a little too much ass cleavage floating around these days?
Not that it's a bad thing, except...sometimes it is. You know what I'm talking about.
Speaking of ass cleavage - an "e-mail archiving problem?" At the White House? Please.
That link is from today's highlighted site - MichaelMoore.com - I know some think he's a "liberal" gadfly, but if you read and listen to what he says, you know he is an equal opportunity blighter. Some things are uncomfortable to learn.
