Two Tickets to Paradise
Movie: Sideways, Jubilee
Took Friday and Monday off as I needed a little break. On Friday I got my hair cut, went into Wellington, had sushi for lunch (unfortunately, no Sumo Sushi lunch buffet here), saw Sideways, which I loved, went back to Upper Hutt, ordered a new futon, ate, went to belly dancing, then came back and chilled out. A great day.
Except for one thing - I haven't been to the movies in a while, and did not know that there are now 15 minutes of ads and previews mixed together before the movie. It said in the paper that the movie started at 12:45, but it did not start until 13:00. That is unacceptable. What if you are trying to plan your day including public transport? I'm going to start sending some letters out.

I'm A Loser Baby
Omigod, I am such a jackass. I was trying to make these gardenburgers, but when I made them they came out too moist, and wouldn't form into a pattie or fry up very well. I saw the show, mine looked nothing like hers. Anyway, I checked out the recipe again later - for some reason, the 1 1/4 cups stock in the recipe turned into 4 1/4 cups in my mind - no wonder it didn't work!
Ah well, it made a bunch of mush that still tasted good. And is good for me!

Mayor restricts viewing of porn star's racy book - now, I know this is not a kid's book, it wasn't in the kids section, but doesn't he know every kid will NOW be trying to check it out? You don't publicize something like that. All the copies are already checked out, with a waiting list - doesn't that mean people are interested in reading it? Moral values my ass. Also, did he not read the title? It says A Cautionary Tale. I'm sure we could all learn something from it.
School district cancels spelling bee - Look, life is one big competition, and you have to learn to win and lose sometime - even at spelling. I had a horrible experience in my fifth grade spelling bee - I'm OK. All kids aren't going to succeed at everything - that's not realistic. I just feel it's a shame.
