Hmmm, what do you think?
How sad am I? I went out in public in my house shoes. Oh sure, it was just to pick Simon up and to our local dairy, but still - next thing you know I'll go out with curlers in my hair. Which used to mortify me when I was younger, my Mom making me go out in public with curlers in my hair. This was pre-curling irons when my hair was so straight and fine it took ALL DAY to get some kind of decent curl in it. And sometimes all night, that was a nightmare trying to sleep in curlers.
Why do people put up with such pain and inconvenience just to look good?

More rain and wind last night - the rain blew under an inch crack in our garage door and flooded out the garage. Not too bad, just enough to ruin some carpet. There was some fantastic thunder and lightning, though, so I can't complain too much.

Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down

I know it snowed in DFW this weekend, but most people had to take a "rain day" today, as the weather has been pretty wild here. I had a job interview this morning, but neither I nor the lady who was supposed to interview me could get in to Wellington - roads were blocked off and the trains weren't running. Simon's office flooded, but he couldn't get in to look at the damage. At least our house did not flood, I am very grateful for that. I will be posting some pics on my fotolog in the next few days to show you what went on.

They just now aired the Oprah show with the Fab Five on TV here last night, and everyone was all clapping and loving them, but I really wanted Oprah to ask the crowd "How many of you think it is OK for these guys to marry?" Just wondering.
It has been Houston humid here this week, raining every day but warm, and I take a shower in the morning, put on deodorant and perfume, and I still feel like I am giving off some B.O. vibes once I get to work because it is so hot inside. And don't even get me started on my hair - I don't think it gets dry all day.
In the Recruitment and Careers section of the paper on Saturday and Wednesday they profile a person and a job, and the guy from Sunday is a volunteer with the Wellington Free Ambulance, but he also works in the same office I am working at this week - how weird is that?

Here's where I'm working this week. The people are very nice, and it is in a small shopping area which I like because I can get out at lunch and walk around, not just sit like a lump somewhere eating.
It's been good for me to work these temp jobs in other cities, because it is forcing me to get out and learn these other cities a little better - I still hate driving in Lower Hutt, but now I know where a bunch of stuff is, and I don't mind riding the bus there and walking. I am having to drive to Porirua, but again, now I know how to get there on my own, and it's not really that bad.
