04/02/2008: "International Year of the Potato"

Well evidently 2008 is the International Year of the Potato. The attached site has some good info if anyone needs to do a report on a tuber.

Looks like just about anyone can grow potatoes, as here is a site that shows you have to grow potatoes in a bucket on your patio.

Here's a link to Good Eats' potato recipes - just the basics, mashed, gratin and baked.

I personally like mashed the best, but I'll go with just about any kind of potato. How do you like to eat your potatoes?

Cynthia - mashed, baked, or fried (and I wonder why I am so fat!)
Olivia - mashed, especially Mimi's

I had no idea you could grow potatoes in a bucket. After my bucket-tomatoes are done this fall, I may give potatoes a try.

As for eating them, I'm a latke girl, myself. My brother makes the best. latkes. evah. At least in Texas.
